• Will I make friends on the trip?

    Of course you will! Traveling is the best way to make new friends.

  • Do I need a sleeping bag?

    No, we don’t sleep in tents.

  • Will there be places to wash my clothes?

    Yes! There will be laundry facilities at the majority of the places we stay.

  • Can I charge my phone on the road?

    Yes. Every seat in the adventure van has their own USB that can be used while we’re on the road.

  • Is there WiFi on the adventure van?


  • How long will we be on the road each day?

    America is one big country and we are going across it. On travel days, we could be traveling for up to 8 hours, depending on the distance needed for that day. This will be a great time for you to rest and recover while taking in the sites rolling by.

  • How many people will I be traveling with?

    15 maximum, including 2 tour leaders.

  • How many states will we go through?


  • How much spending money will I need?

    We recommend you budget $50 a day. This should be enough to cover food, drinks, tips, or souvenirs.

  • Are meals included?

    Breakfast is included every day. The majority of the time breakfast will be continental and some of the times it will be a full hot breakfast.

  • Can I drink alcohol in the tour van?

    No. Relax and enjoy the ride. There will be plenty of time to party.

  • Will I need a visa?

    If you’re an international visitor, yes. You will need to ensure you’re legally able to enter the United States. You may need to obtain proper passport, Visa/ESTA documentation in advance.

  • Will I need travel insurance?

    Yes. All participants are required to obtain and maintain travel insurance covering personal injury, medical expenses, and loss of or damage to luggage and property, with minimum coverage of $200,000 US dollars, while traveling with American Hostel Adventures.

  • Will I need a return flight from a different airport?

    Yes. Since you will cover nearly 4,000 miles in one direction, you will need to plan return travel accordingly. If you need any help with this or have any questions, please ask.
